The Mon style was made as a souvenir from the time of the Thai victory. The style of the pagoda base is similar to the Burmese Mon style. When King Naresuan the Great regained independence in 1584, he ordered a Thai-style pagoda to be built over a Mon-style base. and the Burmese who only built the foundation at the battlefield of Thung Makham Yong. The original Mon craftsmanship appears to show that only the lower Thaksin base remains. Therefore, Phu Khao Thong Chedi has a mixture of two architectural styles.
